About
the Artist: Anne Tobin Landers I
didn't consciously choose to be an artist. It's almost as though art
chose me. My childhood memories are filled with art. I loved
drawing pictures and could spend hours amusing myself with art supplies
and paper. In my heart I know I've always been an
artist. Family
and friends always encouraged me to use my art and pursue it as a
career. I never found the right niche to express myself until I
started painting and personalizing ceramic plates. I began by painting
plates and plaques for special
people in my life. Soon people starting asking me to paint plates for them to give to their loved ones. So with a hundred dollars I
bought my first kiln. This was the beginning of Tobin
Design. Nine years and two little
boys down the road, I still find painting as much fun as the day I
started my adventure. I find great inspiration in the pictures my son’s
draw for me and with their interest in my work. Their teachers are
always a little perplexed when they try to explain “My mommy paints
plates.” Soon they understand this unique job – and aren’t too surprise
with a painted plate teacher’s gift!
I paint each plate
myself and sign it with my middle name - Tobin. I don't know why
exactly, but ever since I was a child, I would sign any piece of art I
created with the name "Tobin". I hope you love each piece as much as I
enjoyed painting it. |
